CLasS ReflectioN

Today i had learn a lot of things in class. Especially i had know how to do the mind map. I think our class have too many classmates so the class always very noisy, sometimes i really can't concentrate on listening. I hope the class can devided to 2 class.

STEREOTYPE

STEREOTYPE is a commonly held public belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. The concepts of "stereotype" and "prejudice" are often confused with many other different meanings. Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions of groups based on some prior assumptions. Generally speaking, stereotypes are not based on objective truth but rather subjective and sometimes unverifiable content-matter.

Example for JUXTAPOSITION

I had found some interesting pictures for example of Juxtaposition from this website http://www.google.com/images?q=juxtaposition%20example&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:zh-CN:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=zh-CN&tab=wi&biw=1280&bih=581

This picture showsthatthe juxtaposition between a devil with the angel's wings and fly in the sky.

The juxtaposition oxymoron trafic light shows the instruction of ''stop'' and "walk".

This picture showing the juxtaposition of a man and a naked women body.

JUXTAPOSITION

This week, lecturer had talked about JUXTAPOSITION and RANDOM JUXTAPOSITION. These phrases are not new to me as they had been mentioned before during one of the class in foundation year. However, in this class, they were explained more detailed. I like this chapter as it is an interesting chapter!

Let's have a simple tour go through the meaning of Juxtaposition and Random Juxtaposition!

What is Juxtaposition?

"Juxtaposition can be defined as placing two variables, side by side and their contrast or similarities are shown through comparison. Many creative processes rely on juxtaposition. By juxtaposing two objects or words next to each other, human brain will automatically associate or transfer meaning. Usually 'turning' something familiar to something less familar or vice-versa."
----- cited from lecturer notes
When we talk about juxtaposition, it may refer to:
  1. Juxtaposition (literary), synonymous with contrast, two objects or texts that oppose one another.
  2. Random juxtaposition, two random objects moving in parallel, a technique intended to stimulate creativity.

------cited from lecturer notes

What is Random Juxtaposition?

Random Juxtaposition refers to the stimulation of creativity in problem solving, design or other creative pursuit by confronting two unrelated concepts or objects, usually the goal or problem to be solved on the one hand and a randomly selected object or concept on the other. Similar to an oxymoron.

Class Reflection

Mr.MUSTAFA BIN MD MUZER was giving us lecturer for today's class. Topic for today is Mind Mapping. Lecturer was so humour,he lets us do some activities such as know someone personality through the ways we put out finger while our hands closed together. This is because our finger are controlled by our brain, for example , if our right hand's finger is on the top of left hand's fingers then which means we are mainly using right brain ,same concept for the left hand side finger too. He also show us the different of people who using left side brain and right side brain.
The person who mainly using left brain are very sensitive in numerical and mathemathic, they are logical thinking and very potential to become the leader of society . However the person who mainly using right brain are creative and they are also a day dreamer. They are potential in music and art. I am the second once.

The table above shows the function of our left brain and right brain.

After finished this activity,Lecturer was take out the mortal and pestie from his bag and ask us to tried and think for the creative usages for mortal and pestie.(* mortal and pestle: an Malay traditional utensil use to crush and grind spices.) For example in year of 20100, woman were used the mortal and pestie as accessories. Mortal as their cap and the pestie as their earing. He also ask us to do the mind mapping about mortal and pestie in class. Below is my mind mapping which i had did while in class.

After choosing five words, we start thinking about another functions of mortal and pestle in the future besides using them as a mortal and pestle according to the words we choose. The image above is mine result after thinking process. The three words choosen is Great Wall, Game, Accessories,Power and School.

It is an interesting and useful thinking process. By doing in this way, we can think out of the box and avoid ourselve being limited by our logic.

MIND MAP

A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid in study, organization, problem solving, decision making, and writing.

The elements of a given mind map are arranged intuitively according to the importance of the concepts, and are classified into groupings, branches, or areas, with the goal of representing semantic or other connections between portions of information. Mind maps may also aid recall of existing memories.

By presenting ideas in a radial, graphical, non-linear manner, mind maps encourage a brainstorming approach to planning and organizational tasks.

The mind map can be contrasted with the similar idea of concept mapping. The former is based on radial hierarchies and tree structures denoting relationships with a central governing concept, whereas concept maps are based on connections between concepts in more diverse patterns.

There are TWO types of mind map, which are:

  • Logical Mind Map
  • Associated Mind Map

Defining Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention

NOVELTY
is means
the quality of being new. It also refers to something novel that which is striking, original or unusual.
This is the example for novelty:

This is the clock and made with a shape of baseball.

This is the rubber of chicken and when u press its stomach and when the air came out from its stomach in the same time the sound will came out too. The sound making by it was so funny and loud! You should try it by yourself.

This is the key hanger and it looks so creative!

CREATIVITY

is ability to create things, to solve problems in new and creative way.

For example this is a creativity picture.
sourse is from http://paragonanubis.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/rhinoscyclist.jpg

This picture is using the same concept with the bottom . This picture was took by me while the sun rises and it look like ''dragon ball''.

This is me!

INNOVATION
Innovation is a new way of doing something. It also may refers to incremental and emergent or radical or revolutionary changes in thinking , products, processes, or organizations.

here is the ultimate wake-up call. This alarm sonically detonates at your hour of choosing and can only be turned off by ‘cutting’ one of the wires. Choose poorly, and you have to hear the echoes of this time bomb as it rattles your bedroom; choose wisely and you can roll over and get a few more winks before you begin your day. This is interactive design at its best. There are few products that truly engage consumers in using them and this is one of those products. If made a little more realistic, or a little more cartoony, this could not be pulled off.
INVENTION
An invention is a new composition, device or process.

Nowadays in Malaysia also have a lot of young people wearing this kind of cap. This invention is specially for those people who are bold. If u would like to have coloring hair but don't willing to dye your hair then you can try this.

This invention is came from Japan, although it was weird but i think it was creative.

CLasS ReflectioN

Today almost all of students already reached at 10am and when i had reached already no places for me to sit. So i have to take the chair from outside and bring it inside the class. Luckily the class haven't started. At the beginning ,we were asked by the lecturer, what is the meaning of creative and creativity. After that he asked a girl what is her name, and she said she is ''Nurul'', then after that lecturer asked her what is her name again and actually lecturer want to heard from her the other answers besides than ''Nurul'' for example ''sayang'', ''sweet heart'',''baby'' or others.
This class was interesting in the begining, but start to become boring when the we were asked about what are our name can be too many times. However, I did learnt something useful in this class.

creative and creativitty

CREATIVE
Definiition of creative is characterized by originality and expressiveness; imaginative: creative writing, productive, creating. Creative having the quality of something created rather than imitated : imaginative

In general, CREATIVITY can be explained as the ability to create things, to solve problems facing in daily life in new and creative way.
For me, creativity is the ability to create things, to solve problem in new way and the result of the process can make people shouting out loudly.
What is Creativity?

"Creativity is a mental process involving the discovery of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the existing ideas or concepts, fueled by the process of either conscious or unconscious insight. "
